• Hey from Tuolumne Meadows–mile 941. Long day to get here. It’s dark and I can’t find the backpacker’s site. #
• I’m laying in a vacant site I found. #
• The Sierras have been tedious and tiresome. #
• On Forester Pass I lost my shoe when I postholed but I managed to dig it out. #
• I almost lost my shoe in the deep mud today. #
• I don’t think the Sierra’s are worth the effort, this time of year. Maybe if that is all you were doing. #
• I’m not really in to all this “potentially fatal” stuff. Most of it is behind me now. . #
• I hiked from 5am till 9:30pm and only took 1 hour total in breaks. #
• I have been seeing more hikers lately. #
• I better go to sleep now. Goodnight. #
• I packed up and got out of that camp site because I believe the rules are: you don’t have to pay if they don’t see you. #
• Waiting for the Tuolumne Meadows store and grill to open. It’s a big tent. #
• I have eaten lots of fresh cherries and drank 3 Odwalla superfood drinks. #
• They gave me my package even though it’s Sunday. I’m ready to go. #

Crow called me (her son, Laen) tonight from mile 906, Red’s Meadow.

She said that the Sierras kicked her ass, but she kicked it right back.  When she has cell service, she’ll send in some updates.  She got sunburned really badly, and the snow was deep at times.

She’s in good spirits now, and looking forward to the rest of her hike!

• I have finished shopping for my resupply. I’m carrying 14,260 calories for the next 150 mile section #
• It all fits in my bear canister. #
• For a zero day I have walked a lot. Town stops aren’t very relaxing. #
• I had a dream where a tree said it wanted to talk to me but I couldn’t stop because I had more miles to hike. #
• Then I thought, “Hey, how many times do you meet a talking tree? Maybe you’re too into the miles”. #
• But then the next morning I thought,”You better get some extra miles in, so in case you meet a talking tree you will have time to stop a … #
• You know how much 10 tortillas cost in this town? 5.79. I think driving may be cheaper than walking. #
• I’m all packed up. My pack is big and doesn’t look like a neat little package. #
• Once my resupply box was opened and my pack emptied, the motel room was crowded with stuff. Now everything is packed away. #
• I’m waiting for the post office to open so I can mail my bounce box along. Town stops eat up so much time. #
• It’s getting really hot. I’m not to excited about today. #
• I wish I could figure out a good way to hike without having to get anything in the mail. #
• I feel sick but once I get back on the trail, I know I’ll feel fine. #
• Okay, everything is mailed. Now to pick up that beast of a pack and try to hitch back to the trail. Hope my new shirt helps. #
• Standing in the hot sun waiting for a ride. #
• I found some bi-focal sunglasses. Now I can read a map without changing glasses. #

• Hey from Lone Pine(mile745). #
• I’m laying in a motel eating fruit. My clothes are in the wash and I have retreived my stuff from the post office. #
• I need to keep working to get my town chores done but I’m feeling the town melt and getting sleepy. #
• I have been moving all day. If this were a hiking day I would have got a lot of miles in. #
• My clothes have been resoaked in permethrin–renewing my cone of death. #
• I have packaged my backpack up and have it ready to mail off for repair and I have received my other pack in the mail. #
• I have bought a new lavender Mountain Hardwear canyon shirt in hopes that my new improved look will attract a ride back to the trailhead. #
• I’m tired. I’ll get out tomorrow but probably not first thing tomorrow. #
• I had just done enough. 30 mile days to pay off that zero day I took in Idywilld and now I’m behind again. #

The trail has been hot and ridiculously dry.  We are humans not camels. 

I made it in and out of Kennedy Meadows in just over an hour.  That’s a record for me.   I planned it that way because I was afraid that the herd would be there, but all was tranquil and I wished I could have stayed loner. 

I hiked down trail pass last night and caught a ride in to Lone Pine from 2005 hiker, Apple, this morning.  

Hitching has been really hard lately.  I don’t know how I’ll get out of this town.   I have the phone number of a guy who will give me a ride for 40 dollars.

 I’m thinking, buying a new shirt might help me get a ride.  My current shirt is a torn and stained once white eco-mesh Rail Riders shirt with not one useful pocket on it.   

To get in and out of Tehachapi, I tried to hitch in the blazing sun till the police came by and gave me a ride–that happened both ways. 

 I better go now and finish up my town chores. 

 

• Hey from mile 567. Made it in and out of Tehachapi. Hardest hitch ever. #
• Forecast: hot and getting hotter. Sitting out my days in the shade and hiking when it’s cool. #

The guy at Hiker Town let me take a shower and wash my clothes.   Now I’m using his computer.   I’m grateful for a place to sit out the hot time of day before I head out on the LA aqua duct.  The trail is hot and waterless but  lots of pretty flowers.    There is another hiker here who also is hiking this trail for the 3rd time.

I’ve been doing great staying out of towns.  

My feet are doing better.  

 

 

 

 

• Hey from somewhere around 480 miles. #
• I should be hiking but I want to go to sleep. #
• I’m up high. There are lots of lights below me–LA sprawl, I think. #
• I’m too sleepy. Good night. #
• This morning I believe I was awaken by the voice of a mountain lion and it’s that belief that got me hiking by 3am. #
• I have been searching for a siesta spot since 10:30 but the flies won’t let me sleep. #

• I’m not really into hiking tonight. I think I would like to put up my tent, take two benedryls and call it a day. #
• It’s a pretty morning with sunshine and lots of birds. I’m so happy I got out of town even if I didn’t do a lot of miles. #
• Time to get hiking after a long sleep. #
• If you mix Cal-Mag Fiz with your electorate-protein drink it will make a fizzing exploding baking soda bomb. Not recommend. #
• There was still some snow on Baden-Powell to navigate around. I think I’m out of all the snow now until the Sierras. #

• Hey from Wrightwood–mile 369.5 #
• I got new socks; my feet are thrilled. #
• I’m really dirty. It’s really windy. I’m melting. It would be so easy to stay; I must be strong. #
• Again I’m in town durring my siesta time. I’m so sleepy I can’t think. #
• The forecast is calling for 50 mile an hour winds. #
• I think the crack in my lip is infected. Some hot water and soap would do it some good. #

• Hey from Cajon Pass (mile 342) I’m really sleepy. It’s time for my seista #

• It’s too early to quit but the sunset is too beautiful to pass up so I’m taking a sunset break. #
• For hiking two hours last night and all day today, I have only gained 15 trail miles because of the stupid reroute #
• It was a hard and fustrating day but I’m feeling better now. #
• All day I have had motor bikes and buggies dusting me. I’m glad to be back on the PCT. #

• Laying down on another ridge with my feet up and eating cookies. I’m going to have to hike late if I want to get my miles in. #
