  • Sitting next to a ORV trail, watching the sun set through power transformers, listening to traffic. #
  • While thinking about the 40 some mile road walk I start tomorrow. #
  • And the other road walk ahead of that, #
  • Where Billy Goat was shot at, 2 packs stolen, and a hiker got bit by a pit bull. #
  • Thinking I don’t want to be here. #
  • Maybe I’ll feel better in the morning. #
  • Last night I answered back to some coyotes and then realized it was domestic dogs. #
  • Then a round of gun fire went off. #
  • This morning I see my crack house neighbor. parked on the next hill. #
  • There were helicopters flying over all night long. #
  • You know what’s great about the SoCal section of the PCT? #
  • It leads somewhere better. #
  • It’s not the same when it dead ends into an old iron fence. #
  • My attitude hasn’t improved much since last night. #
  • Laying on a hill. I don’t want to get up. #
  • But I’m out of water, so, I should. #
  • On my way home. Goodbye PCT, see you next year. #

  • Worst night ever. #
  • I think someone was having a wilderness rave. #
  • At 6am it was still going on #
  • I got sharp grass seed in my clothes and all my gear. #
  • I lost my glasses, broke my spare pair and lost 2 tent stakes. #
  • But now, all is calm, I'm away from the killer grass seed, the gnats, and the booming noise. #
  • Laying down, enjoying the morning sun, and drinking tea. #

  • There was a "No Loitering" sign on the PCT today #
  • But there is no sign on this old dead tree I've been curled under for the past two hours. #
  • 8 days in a row without seeing another hiker. . #
  • 546.5 full signal. #
  • I guess I better get hiking before they send the sheriff up here to have me arrested for loitering. #
  • WA535(faucet near Cottonwood Creek) flowing well but water is a little green. #
  • WA541.5(Tylerhorse Canyon) is flowing but is shallow and heavily polluted with cow poop. #
  • WA545(Gamble spring Canyon) is dry. #
  • Man, that Aqua duct water is nasty. #
  • 7 more miles to Hiker Town. Maybe I can make it without drinking any more water. #
  • Even though I treated it with Aqua Mira and added flavoring, the taste makes me gag. #
  • Mile 525 two bars. #
  • Worst water of the trip. #
  • One an a half gallons cached at 524.7 #
  • Sitting on the Aqua duct eating hamburger and fries.! #
  • A water worker gave them to me. #

  • I started walking down to the Albertson's but it was to hot so I resupplied out of Kmart. #
  • I have Fritos, cheese, fun size snickers and oranges. #
  • I guess I should head back to the trail. #
  • Just try to get a ride out of Tehachapi. #
  • Still no ride. I'm not trying hard enough. #
  • I've started walking. If I built this trail it would drop closer to town so you wouldn't have to hitch. #
  • Made it out of town and back to the trail. #
  • But didn't get far because of my heavy load of food and water. #
  • Maybe by morning it will be lighter. #
  • Didn't see any water at Oak Creek(558) but there were 2 gallons cached at the picnic table #
  • WA556 (Tiger tank) clear water flowing from shower. #

  • "Piper's Mom" left a message at the trailhead offering rides. I might try her after awhile. #
  • Pieper's Mom was busy fixing breakfast for a hiker but sounds like someone is coming. #
  • I should have gone in last night. But didn't want the hassle of hitching in, resupplying, and hitching out that late. #
  • I should have sent more to drakesbad than I did. #
  • Breakfast in town. #
  • The barefoot thing is not working for me. #
  • Neither is the no caffine rule. #

  • Shoes and music are coming to Echo Lake……I picked up some instant coffee in town. #
  • How far I have fallen. #
  • "Piper's Mom" gave me a ride back to the trail. #
  • She was bringing another hiker back to the trail. A young man who started 3.5 months ago. #
  • Among his possisions was, I kid you not, a big rock. #
  • He says someone gave it to him and he doesn't mind the weight. #
  • 1331 2 bars. #
