The ultimate bug net.

cabin2-113-1.jpgI have this idea: make a big bag out of no see um netting with elastic, lycra binding, or a draw cord at one end. Then throw the big bag over my umbrella when I’m hiking and secure it around my waist for the ultimate head net. At night, I could sleep under it, when the weather is nice but the bugs aren’t. Good idea?

  1. hello crow.
nice concept. i got that idea from ray jardine, and that’s quite similar to what we do… we have a 5′ x 6′ piece of no seeum sewn to our quilt, about 12″ down from the head. we can leave it tied down, or drape in up and over an umbrella that is positioned between us just as you have pictured, for bug protection or a little extra warmth.

that way, we can use our tarp in all conditions, and still have the bug protection without carrying an inner net tent.
